Support for new green standard

November 26th, 2007 // Permalink

As a specialist in direct marketing, Eclipse Marketing is throwing its weight behind a major new standard, aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the industry.

The standard, the first covering environmental performance in the field of direct marketing, is being developed by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and an alliance of like-minded member companies, in conjunction with BSI British Standards. It will cover all areas, from direct mail to email marketing.

Eclipse Marketing has registered its interest in helping to develop the content of the standard and put its name forward as a potential member of the Review Panel. Review Panel members will be invited to comment on the draft document produce by BSI British Standards and have an opportunity to make suggestions for improving it. The consultation process is expected to take up to 12 months.

Jenny South, Operations Director at Eclipse Marketing said, “We are 100% behind this new move, which will give direct marketing companies an independently operated benchmark against which to measure their environmental credentials. For the first time, direct marketing companies will be able to prove the authenticity of the environmental claims they make.

“At Eclipse Marketing, we support any initiative that encourages best practice, especially in the important area of environmental responsibility. We look forward to playing our part in developing this new standard, which we believe will help shape the future of our industry.”
