Waitrose turns to direct marketing

waitrose.jpgWaitrose are launching a “money off” marketing campaign to reverse the current negative sales trend, as well as raising awareness of its latest in-store promotions.

The supermarket giants are issuing money off vouchers to retain loyal customers and win back those who have reduced their spend in store, or migrated to other supermarkets.

The broad sweep of the Internet is called the semantic wave, which embraces the four stages of Internet growth (web 4.0 will come later). Web 3.0 is starting now, and is about representing meanings, connecting knowledge, and putting these to work in ways that make our experience of the Internet more relevant, useful and enjoyable.

Carlsberg helping publicans through direct mail

carlsberg.jpgCarlsberg UK has launched a new direct mail campaign designed to help the ailing pub sector and its relationship with the consumer.

The campaign entitled ‘We Deliver More’ will provide landlords with the ability to create and send personalised direct mail to a targeted consumer list of 26 million consumers. Feedback from consumers will then be provided through a mystery shopping programme.

DMA launches environmental standard

direct-marketing-association.bmpThe Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is launching an environmental standard, PAS 2020, that will ensure direct marketers take responsibility for the sustainable development of the industry.

The PAS 2020 has been commissioned by the DMA in partnership with Acxiom, ISBA (the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers), Royal Mail and the Telephone preference service.

BBC using semantic technology

bbc-logo.jpgThe BBC is working on an online project that uses semantic web technology to creative a comprehensive resource for music fans.

The project doesn’t just put factual data onto a web page, as it gathers information around an artist and uses semantic web technology to link to other resources that gives users more than just fact and figures.
