Business data lists should reflect client interest levels

database-marketing.jpgAccording to data experts, business data lists for direct marketing promotions should focus on clients that have expressed interest in a product or service.

They state that the quality of data lists was crucial to direct marketing campaigns, adding that any list should target prospective clients with a prior awareness of the company.

One of the ideas noted was to have marketers combine direct mail with email targeting to heighten the impact of a new promotion.

Another idea was to consider direct mail as a means for businesses to introduce themselves and extend an invitation to provide more information on a topic of the recipients, who may not be fully aware of the business.

Finally experts claimed businesses could test different direct marketing strategies on the same data list in order to measure the best way of approaching a particular set of clients.
